Today we learned about the Boxer Rebellion, in your own words explain what it was. Please write it as though you are explaining it to someone who has no idea what it is. the Boxer Rebellion was a rebellion from a secret orginization of people called Socienty of Harmonious Fists. They rebelled because they didnt like Christian ideas and thought they would threaten chinese traditions. They killed Christian missionaries. They were stopped by 20,000 soldiers from many countries and restored order and demanded concessions from the Chinese government.

The boxers pretty much hated the Christian missionaries, so in the future they roamed the countryside and killed foreign missionaries in and Chinese Christians. Because of the killing a huge allied army that consisted of British, French, German, Russian, America, adn Japanese armies to attack Beijing. With all the destruction chinese government had to pay a indemnity for all the damage. Since then the imperial government is very weak.

The open door policy came tooo late to stop the Boxer rebellion. The boxers were upset by the foreign takeover of Chinese lands. The boxers had especially disliked the Christian Missionaries and Chinese converts to Christianity who seemed to threatened Chinese traditions.
