India's Nationalist movement: How were the roots of this movement similar to the nationalist movement in Africa we looked at in the previous section? Does this remind you of any movement that occured in the United States?

  2. The INC did not demand immediate independence but did call for a share in the governing process. The INC had difficulties because of religious differences. In 1915 the return of a young Hindu from South Africa brough new life to India's struggle for independence.

  4. Both wanted to be free but not right away. Plus both wanted a nonviolent revolution. These were the thoughts Mohandas Gandhi. In Africa it was lead by Muhammad Ali.

Its similar because each is trying to find some freedom and independence and not have others telling them what to believe in.Also, they didn't want to relay on British, who were trying to get them to change. Yes, when the slaves where trying to gain freedom.

  8. The nationalist did not declare independance. At first many preferred reform ro revolution, but the slow pace of reform convinced many indian nationalists that relying on british goodwill was futile. In 1885 a small group of indians met in mumbail to from the indian national congress. The INC had difficulties because of religious differences.

  10. They are similiar because both of them wanted to be free. Both of them also wanted a nonviolent revolution and the people of India and Africa were from the upper class.

  11. They are similar because they had both dealed with educated people trying to run the system. In both cases the peasants had revolted from the decisions made by the educated people. We see this in the United States of America where the educated people try to be in control of what is going on in the nation

It is similar because there was a british power. Like africa british's power increased and now it tells that british's power in India also increased. And in Africa many revolts happended because of religion type and, nationalist and so did people in India.
Yes, but with jobs. They revolted or striked for better job conditions.

  13. In section 3 and the rest of them, all of these chapters would want independence. The INC did not demand immediate independence but did call for a share of goverment, so did the other sections. And the goal for the INC was to seek independence for all indians.
Another thing that did happen in all the sections would be to get education. Most people seeked to get education to learn and know things. So that refers back to the United states. We still seek education to learn in everday life.

  14. The first indian nationalists were upper class and english-educated. many of them were from urban areas, such as mumbai, chennai, and calcutta.

Britain was in control. British rule in India brought order and stability to a society that had been badly divided by civil war. They also led to a farily honest and efficient government.
Both of the nationalist movements were started with urban educated people in schools.
They both wanted an end to foreign rule, also.

Yes. When we fought the British. The British was ruling us as a colony just like then when they were ruling India as a colony.
